Royals pitching prospect Yordano Ventura, who impressed during his brief late-season call-up in 2013, won't be constrained by a stringent innings limits this season, general manager Dayton Moore said Monday.

Ventura, who compiled 150 innings last season across three different levels, is expected to compete for a spot in the Royals' rotation this spring. Lauded for his overpowering fastball, the 22-year-old right-hander fashioned a 3.52 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP over three starts for the Royals in 2013.
