Canadian b-boy Phil Wizard took home the inaugural gold medal in men's breaking, beating France's Dany Dann in the final. It extends Canada's historic Summer Olympics gold-medal haul to nine.
Wizard swept all three rounds and won the contest 23-4. He previously defeated Dann in a preliminary match 13-5 in two rounds and went undefeated in the competition. The U.S.' Victor rounded out the podium after beating Japan's Shigekix in the bronze-medal match.

Vancouver's Wizard was the No. 2-ranked b-boy entering the Olympics. He previously won gold at the 2023 Santiago Pan American Games and the 2022 Seoul World Breaking Championship.
The 2024 Paris Olympics are the second-best medal haul for the Canadians at any non-boycotted Olympics with 27 total. The 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics remain Canada's best Olympic medal haul with 29 medals and 11 golds.
Breaking made its debut at the 2024 Paris Olympics, with Japanese b-girl Ami winning the women's event. It's currently not in the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics programme.
