FBI agents performed a sweep of Ole Miss' football office after former head coach Lane Kiffin left the program for SEC rival LSU.
Walker Jones, the executive director of Ole Miss' NIL collective, told the "Assorted Crackers" podcast that officials from the government agency searched the Manning Center for recording devices.
"We actually had the FBI come through and walk the building for bugs and for everything," Jones said, according to ESPN's Mark Schlabach. "We knew kind of what was in Baton Rouge, and we knew how they operated. I remember getting on my knees and looking underneath the desk, like checking for, 'Is there some sort of bug in my office?'"
Jones explained that he and other Ole Miss staff members went to extreme measures to prevent Kiffin from poaching the team's players, including sleeping at the facility for several nights.
"Trust me, you don't know this guy (Kiffin) like I do," Jones said.
While a few Ole Miss starters ultimately transferred to LSU, offensive stars Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy opted to stay with the team.
Kiffin agreed to become LSU's head coach after guiding the Rebels to an 11-1 record and the program's first College Football Playoff berth last season. Ole Miss then promoted defensive coordinator Pete Golding to replace Kiffin.
Kiffin lured several other Ole Miss staffers to LSU, including offensive coordinator Charlie Weis Jr., running backs coach Kevin Smith, and general manager Billy Glasscock.
The Rebels will host Kiffin and the Tigers at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on Sept. 19.
