Florida's Napier: Lagway injury 'less significant' than anticipated
Florida quarterback DJ Lagway's lower-body injury isn't as severe as expected.
"The good news is we have positive information on that front," head coach Billy Napier said Monday, according to Graham Hall of 247Sports. "We do think that the injury is less significant; we do think there's a pathway for recovery and a return."
Lagway was carted off with an injury during the second quarter of the Gators' 34-20 loss to Georgia on Saturday. Aidan Warner replaced Lagway under center, completing seven of 22 pass attempts for 66 yards and an interception.
Napier added that Lagway hasn't been ruled out of the team's contest against Texas yet and that his status will become clearer later this week, per Hall.
The true freshman quarterback has thrown for 1,071 yards, six touchdowns, and five interceptions in eight appearances this season. He's also added 114 yards rushing.
Florida's remaining schedule after the road matchup with the Longhorns includes home games against LSU and Ole Miss and a road matchup with Florida State.
