Texas A&M's Mathews plans to enter portal
Texas A&M safety Jacoby Mathews plans to enter the transfer portal, he told On3's Hayes Fawcett.
"After long, careful thoughts and consideration, I have decided that it would be best for me to enter the transfer portal with two years left of eligibility," Mathews said. "Thank you for everything, Aggieland, forever home away from home!"
Mathews played in over 20 games over two seasons with the Aggies. He recorded 66 tackles, seven passes defended, and one interception during his tenure.
Mathews will have two years of eligibility remaining ahead of his move.
Texas A&M's roster has experienced some roster turnover following the hire of Mike Elko as head coach last November, including the departures of Walter Nolen (Ole Miss) and Evan Stewart (Oregon) via the portal.
Mathews, a Louisiana native, was a four-star prospect of a star-studded 2022 recruiting class for the Aggies.
