Four-star quarterback Malachi Nelson announced his commitment to Oklahoma's class of 2023 on Sunday.

Nelson is the 17th-ranked recruit on the ESPN Junior 300 and the third-best pocket-passer in the nation.

The Los Alamitos, California, native also had offers from Alabama, Ohio State, and USC, among others.

"Oklahoma had everything I wanted in a college," Nelson said, according to Greg Biggins of 247Sports. "I love the coaching staff and have a really strong connection with (head coach) Lincoln Riley. We've spent so much time talking and getting to know each other over the last year, and he's someone I really respect on and off the field.

"He recruited me personally and that was a big deal for me. On my visit, I was the only quarterback out there for the big BBQ weekend, and I had a chance to sit down and really get to know him and loved spending all that time together talking football and life as well."

Nelson is the second recruit to join the Sooners' 2023 class after four-star running back Treyaun Webb committed to the program Saturday.
