The Phoenix Suns are hiring ex-Washington coach Mike Hopkins as an assistant, sources told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Pete Thamel.

Hopkins is the latest addition to Mike Budenholzer's staff, which reportedly includes David Fizdale and Chad Forcier, add Wojnarowski and Thamel.

Hopkins has spent the last seven seasons at the helm of Washington, posting a 118-106 record. The 54-year-old's tenure with the Huskies started strong, as he won back-to-back Pac-12 Coach of the Year awards and guided the program to a Round of 32 appearance in just his second campaign.

However, the school hasn't made it back to the NCAA Tournament since the 2018-19 season. They finished last in the Pac-12 standings in 2019-20 despite having future NBA first-round picks Isaiah Stewart and Jaden McDaniels on their roster.

Hopkins previously spent 22 years at Syracuse as an assistant under Hall of Fame coach Jim Boeheim.
