Philadelphia 76ers head coach Nick Nurse looks forward to running his half-court offense through LeBron James.
"I just think LeBron, I consider him a great offense creator," Nurse told reporters Thursday, including ESPN's Dave McMenamin.
"I don't necessarily mean scorer, I just think creator and a table setter and all that kind of stuff. ... If it isn't bringing it up and starting (the possession), it's probably going to be first pass anyway to (him on) the wing and then we get into our actions, and he's kind of seeing what's there, and he's creating offense for others."
Philadelphia's half-court offense ranked 23rd last season with 96.3 points per 100 plays, according to Cleaning the Glass. The 76ers have discussed using James in a point forward role, sources told McMenamin.
James ranks fourth on the NBA's all-time list for assists, trailing Jason Kidd in third by 75 dimes. James led the Association with 10.2 assists per contest when he served as the Los Angeles Lakers' full-time point guard during the 2019-20 campaign.
While Nurse outlined his vision for Philadelphia's offense, he said he wants the four-time Finals MVP and the rest of the roster to weigh in.
"I would like to have a collaborative situation here," Nurse said. "So, when just about anything that's on the table, (James) can say, 'What are you thinking about doing?' Any thoughts. Any ideas. And not just with him. I actually did it with five of the players this morning before practice."
