Portland Trail Blazers guard Shaedon Sharpe is expected to miss six months with a torn meniscus, sources told ESPN's Shams Charania.
Sharpe sustained the injury during an individual offseason workout and is set to undergo surgery this week, a source told Joe Freeman of The Oregonian.
The 6-foot-5 guard averaged a career-high 20.8 points, 4.3 rebounds, 2.6 assists, and 1.4 steals across 50 appearances last season. He missed an extended period of time with a calf strain and stress reaction of his left fibula.
The Trail Blazers have the guard depth to withstand Sharpe's absence, with Damian Lillard returning from a torn Achilles tendon and Ja Morant arriving this offseason via trade from the Memphis Grizzlies.
Portland selected Sharpe with the seventh overall pick in the 2022 draft. The Canadian was a five-star recruit coming out of high school. He reclassified into the 2021 class and enrolled early at Kentucky but never played a game for the Wildcats.
Sharpe has started 134 games for the Blazers over four seasons. He signed a four-year, $90-million extension last October.
