Mavs' Flagg out through All-Star break with foot sprain
Dallas Mavericks rookie Cooper Flagg will miss Thursday's contest against the Los Angeles Lakers as well as the Rising Stars game after an MRI revealed a left midfoot sprain, the team announced Wednesday.
Flagg sustained the injury during Tuesday's matchup versus the Phoenix Suns. It's unclear when Flagg suffered the injury, as he played 36 minutes before exiting for good with 19.8 seconds remaining.
The No. 1 overall pick isn't expected to miss time beyond All-Star Weekend, a source told ESPN's Tim MacMahon.
An injury replacement will need to be named for Flagg.
Atlanta Hawks forward Zaccharie Risacher was recently tabbed to fill in for Oklahoma City Thunder guard Ajay Mitchell.
Flagg is the front-runner to win NBA Rookie of the Year honors. The Duke product is averaging 20.4 points, 6.6 boards, 4.1 assists, and 1.2 steals across 49 appearances this season.
