Lakers' Wood out at least 8 weeks after knee surgery
Los Angeles Lakers big man Christian Wood will be re-evaluated in eight weeks after undergoing a successful arthroscopic surgical procedure on his left knee, the team announced Monday.
Wood injured the knee in February and underwent surgery a month later. He missed the team's final 26 regular-season games and five playoff contests.
Prior to the injury, the 28-year-old averaged 6.9 points and 5.1 assists in a reserve role for the Lakers. He joined L.A. last offseason, signing a two-year contract with the franchise.
Wood holds career averages of 13.6 points and seven rebounds in 339 contests. He went undrafted in 2015 after spending two seasons at UNLV.
The Lakers finished the last campaign with a 47-35 record and were bounced in the first round of the playoffs. The franchise parted ways with head coach Darvin Ham and replaced him with former sharpshooter JJ Redick.
The Lakers will host the Minnesota Timberwolves on Oct. 22 to open the 2024-25 season.
