<p>The Chicago Bulls have shown interest in re-signing veteran guard <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/53246" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/53246">Lonzo Ball</a> once his contract expires over the summer, <a href="https://x.com/TheSteinLine/status/1886858173593657514">NBA insider Marc Stein</a> reports.</p><p>The Bulls have received interest for Ball all season but are not eager to trade him before Thursday's deadline or buy him out afterward, <a href="https://x.com/TheSteinLine/status/1886857633891750098">Stein</a> adds.</p><p>Ball, 29, is averaging 7.2 points, 3.5 assists, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.5 steals in his first season back from multiple knee injuries. He is in the final season of a four-year, $80-million contract he signed in 2021.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Chicago recently traded two-time All-Star <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///nba/players/30738" href="https://thescore.com/nba/players/30738">Zach LaVine</a> to the Sacramento Kings as part of a three-team deal with the San Antonio Spurs. They already have plenty of it. Trying to be as professional as I can and work my ass off for something else."</p><p>Nurkic is averaging 8.6 points and 9.2 rebounds in 25 games this season. The 30-year-old signed a four-year, $70-million contract with the Portland Trail Blazers in 2022. The Suns acquired Nurkic as part of the Damian Lillard three-team blockbuster trade in 2023. He has one more year left on his deal for $19.4 million.</p><p>The 11-year veteran said he's still hoping for an opportunity to play.</p><p>"I know who I am as a person and as a player. Like I said, 'one door close, another will open eventually.' That's what I'm working for and hoping for."</p>

Butler planned to join the team Wednesday night, reports <a href="https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/43524206/heat-planning-suspend-jimmy-butler-two-games-sources">ESPN's Shams Charania</a>. He'll now miss the team's contests against the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday and the Brooklyn Nets on Sunday.</p><p>Miami previously suspended the 35-year-old for seven games due to numerous instances of detrimental conduct. Butler <a data-in-app-uri="thescore:///news/3189604" href="https://thescore.com/news/3189604">reportedly</a> reiterated his trade request to Heat president Pat Riley. Miami also publicly announced that the team would listen to trade requests for the six-time All-Star.</p><div class="the-score-article-ad-unit"></div><p>Butler averaged 13 points, 5.7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds in between suspensions.
