Derrick Jones Jr. out 6-8 weeks with fractured finger
Chicago Bulls forward Derrick Jones Jr. is expected to miss six-to-eight weeks after suffering a fractured right index finger during a workout Tuesday, the team announced.
Jones has been sidelined since Jan. 12 due to a bone bruise in his knee that was slated to keep him out between two-to-four weeks. His return to the court is now delayed, but he could potentially come back sooner than expected by wearing a protective splint, the Bulls noted.
The 24-year-old is averaging 6.3 points and 3.4 rebounds in 31 games this season. Chicago acquired Jones as part of a three-team trade with the Portland Trail Blazers and Cleveland Cavaliers this past August.
The Bulls (29-17) are currently without a number of key players, including guards Lonzo Ball and Alex Caruso, who are both expected to return from their respective knee and wrist injuries within six-to-eight weeks.
