Memphis Grizzlies forward Bruno Caboclo is expected to miss four-to-six weeks after suffering a bone bruise in his left knee, the team announced.

Imaging indicated there's no structural damage within the knee.

While playing for the G League's Memphis Hustle, the 24-year-old hyperextended his knee in a Jan. 13 game versus the Santa Cruz Warriors.

Described as "the Brazilian Kevin Durant" and "two years away from being two years away" by ESPN's Fran Fraschilla when the Toronto Raptors drafted him 20th overall in 2014, Caboclo finally appeared to be solidifying an NBA role down the stretch last season, his first in Memphis. In 34 NBA appearances in 2018-19, Caboclo averaged 8.3 points and 4.6 rebounds in 23.5 minutes per game.

However, with the Grizzlies investing in the likes of frontcourt talents Jaren Jackson Jr. and Brandon Clarke in recent drafts, Caboclo's role waned substantially this year. His playing time fell below nine minutes per game across 22 appearances in 2019-20.
