Carmelo Anthony won't join the Portland Trail Blazers before Tuesday's game versus the New Orleans Pelicans at the earliest, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Anthony still needs to pass a physical to finalize his non-guaranteed contract for the remainder of the season.

The timing means Anthony will miss at least Saturday's game against the San Antonio Spurs and Monday's tilt with the Houston Rockets, the last team the star forward played for prior to his year in basketball exile.

The 35-year-old has been without an NBA home since a 10-game stint with the Rockets early last season. After parting ways with the team in November, Anthony was traded to the Chicago Bulls in January as part of a money-saving maneuver. The Bulls ultimately released the future Hall of Famer in February.

In parts of 16 NBA campaigns, Anthony has averaged 24 points and 6.5 rebounds per game, although he averaged just 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds in his brief tenure with Houston last season.
