The Washington Wizards added a familiar name to their front office Wednesday, hiring retired forward Antawn Jamison as director of pro personnel.

"We are absolutely thrilled to bring Antawn back to the Wizards organization," general manager Tommy Sheppard said in a statement. "In addition to his strong feel for the game and basketball knowledge, he has always been a true professional and a dedicated worker. We look forward to him bringing those qualities to our front office."

Jamison will assist the team's vice president of pro personnel, Johnny Rogers, in both domestic and international scouting for the Wizards and their G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go.

Before retiring in 2014, Jamison played 16 seasons in the NBA after being drafted fourth overall in 1998. He spent five and a half of those campaigns with the Wizards from 2005-09, averaging 20.8 points and 8.9 rebounds with the franchise.

Following his retirement, Jamison joined the Los Angeles Lakers as a TV analyst. He later took up a scouting role within the organization under former president of basketball operations Magic Johnson.

In addition to Jamison, the Wizards also hired Laron Profit and John Carideo, formerly of the Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies, respectively, as scouts.
