Alex Pereira could be on the verge of taking away the title of greatest fighter of all time from Jon Jones, according to UFC president and CEO Dana White.

Pereira would become the first three-weight champion in UFC history if he defeats Ciryl Gane in an interim heavyweight championship bout at UFC Freedom 250 held at the White House on June 14.

"If he wins the third world title that night, he jumps over Jon Jones and becomes the greatest of all time," White said to Forbes, according to ESPN's Brett Okamoto.

Pereira, a former middleweight champion and two-time light heavyweight champ, holds an MMA record of 13-3, with six wins over his last seven fights.

Widely regarded as one of the greatest fighters ever, Jones owns a 28-1-0 (1 NC) record and is also a two-division champion, having previously held the light heavyweight and heavyweight titles.

Jones, who asked for his release from the UFC in March following a dispute with White, previously expressed interest in fighting Pereira on the White House card.
