Report: Ex-UFC champ Figueiredo to make bantamweight debut vs. Font on Dec. 2
Former UFC flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo is expected to make his bantamweight debut against Rob Font at a UFC Fight Night event on Dec. 2, reports Mike Heck of MMA Fighting.
The UFC has yet to announce a location for its Dec. 2 card.
Figueiredo has been talking about making a move to bantamweight since losing the flyweight belt to Brandon Moreno at UFC 283 in January. The 35-year-old has had two separate reigns as UFC flyweight champion. He faced Moreno in four different title bouts, going 1-2-1.
Meanwhile, Font is currently the No. 7 bantamweight. The 36-year-old most recently lost to Cory Sandhagen by unanimous decision after stepping in on short notice on Aug. 5. He's now lost three of his last four fights, with his only win coming against Adrian Yanez by first-round TKO at UFC 287 in April.
Font said after his UFC 287 victory that he would love to introduce Figueiredo to the new division.
His wish has been granted.
