The Tampa Bay Rays and Milwaukee Brewers are among a host of teams that want star left-hander Tarik Skubal if the Detroit Tigers opt to trade him ahead of Monday's deadline, ESPN's Jeff Passan reports.
The Atlanta Braves, Philadelphia Phillies, and Los Angeles Dodgers are also monitoring Skubal's availability, Passan adds.
The Tigers reportedly set the price on Skubal at a controllable young pitcher plus prospects. Skubal recently said he doesn't want to be traded, but Detroit is four games back of a wild-card spot in the American League, and the 29-year-old is a pending unrestricted free agent.
He signed a one-year, $32-million contract through arbitration in February, and negotiations between the two-time Cy Young winner and the Tigers were reportedly contentious.
Skubal, who would be the top free agent available this coming winter, is likely to land a long-term deal wherever he ends up.
Skubal missed time this season with an elbow issue but has posted a 2.70 ERA in 15 appearances. He led all AL pitchers in WAR, ERA, and FIP in both 2024 and 2025.
