The Cleveland Guardians will be without at least two key players for the foreseeable future.
Star third baseman José Ramírez is expected to miss five-to-seven weeks after undergoing surgery Tuesday to remove the hook of his fractured left hamate bone, the team announced, according to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com.
The Guardians also placed outfielder Angel Martinez on the 10-day injured list with a non-displaced fracture in his left foot.
Meanwhile, rookie outfielder Chase DeLauter is day-to-day and will try to play through a small fracture in his right rib, per Paul Hoynes of Cleveland.com.
Ramírez, Martinez, and DeLauter were all injured during Saturday's 3-1 win over the Detroit Tigers. The trio hit in the first three spots of Cleveland's batting order in the game.
Prior to the injury, Ramírez had appeared in at least 152 games per season eight times since 2016. The seven-time All-Star has only been on the injured list twice in his 14-year career. The first time he was placed on the IL was when he broke the hamate bone in his right hand in 2019, resulting in a month-long absence.
Ramírez has recorded 10 home runs, 33 RBIs, 24 stolen bases, and a .757 OPS across 72 contests this year. Martinez is slashing .239/.276/.442 with 11 homers, 33 RBIs, and nine steals over 66 games in 2026.
The Guardians (39-33) enter Tuesday's action in the AL's second wild-card spot.
