Kyle Tucker is attempting to figure out why he's been struggling at the plate this season after having so much success prior to joining the Los Angeles Dodgers.
"I've tried basically everything," Tucker said, according to Dylan Hernandez of the California Post. "Just sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't."
Tucker is in the first year of a four-year, $240-million contract he signed in January. The Dodgers brought in the four-time All-Star to beef up their already stellar lineup, but he's failed to deliver so far.
Following Monday's 2-for-4 performance against the Tampa Bay Rays, which included a three-run home run, Tucker is hitting .239/.337/.388 with six homers and 39 RBIs - numbers far below his career averages.
The 29-year-old has struggled to stay consistent with his bat path, which he said has been "all over the place" this season. Tucker is looking to establish an approach similar to the one he had during his time with the Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs.
"It can work for one at-bat or two at-bats or something, but just gotta make it consistent," he said. "Play so many games and have so many at-bats, so having one at-bat go your way is fine. It's great, but you just gotta try and come back and do that every single time."
