BALTIMORE, MD - JUNE 13: Manager Craig Stammen #14 of the San Diego Padres argues with umpire Chris Conroy #98 after pitcher Ron Marinaccio #97, foreground, is ejected from the game in the ninth inning for hitting a Baltimore Orioles batter at Oriole Park at Camden Yards on June 13, 2026 in Baltimore, Maryland. Stammen was ejected as well moments later.

San Diego Padres reliever Ron Marinaccio has been suspended three games and fined an undisclosed amount for intentionally throwing at Baltimore Orioles shortstop Gunnar Henderson in Saturday's game, Major League Baseball announced.

Marinaccio is appealing the ban and will be available to pitch Monday in St. Louis.

MLB also handed Padres manager Craig Stammen a one-game ban, which he'll serve Monday. Bench coach Randy Knorr will serve as acting manager against St. Louis, according to Annie Heilbrunn of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Marinaccio hit Henderson with a first-pitch fastball with two out in the ninth inning of San Diego's 9-3 win Saturday at Camden Yards. The right-hander was immediately ejected, while Stammen was given the boot moments later after arguing the decision.

The Orioles believed that Marinaccio hit Henderson as retaliation after Trey Gibson beaned Xander Bogaerts in the helmet earlier in the game. Both Marinaccio and Stammen denied there was intent in the ninth.

However, the Orioles didn't buy the Padres' explanation. Henderson pointed out that another San Diego pitcher, Bradgley Rodriguez, had thrown him two inside fastball in the seventh.

"I guess they were trying to make up for missing," Henderson said after Saturday's game. "They had their two opportunities in my previous at-bat and missed, so I thought that should have been the end of it. But I guess they were trying to get payback, so I guess we're even now."

Marinaccio, 30, owns a 3.96 ERA and 1.24 WHIP with 31 strikeouts and 10 walks across 24 relief appearances this season.
