The Chicago Cubs dropped their 10th game in a row Tuesday, losing 12-1 to the Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park.

Chicago's been outscored 65-25 during the slide.

The Cubs joined the 2017 Los Angeles Dodgers as the only teams in MLB history to have a double-digit losing streak and multiple double-digit winning streaks in the same season.

The Dodgers did end up winning 104 games that season en route to the World Series, where they lost to the scandal-ridden Houston Astros.

Chicago (29-26) is now tied with the Pirates for last in the NL Central.

"Somebody has got to step up and get a big hit in big spots," Cubs manager Craig Counsell said postgame, according to John Perrotto of MLB.com. "There's not much more to say after that. You've got to conduct a big-league professional at-bat at some point. Those are the at-bats you should want during a game. Those at-bats that can make a difference.

"And you've got to deliver. It's a league of production. If you don't deliver, then we'll be talking about the same thing again."

Jordan Wicks took the loss, surrendering eight earned runs on nine hits with one walk and five strikeouts over 4 1/3 innings.

Pittsburgh collected 15 hits in the victory. Rookie Esmerlyn Valdez had a home run and three RBIs in his home debut.
