Pirates trade Frazier to Royals for prospect
The Kansas City Royals acquired infielder Adam Frazier from the Pittsburgh Pirates for infield prospect Cam Devanney, the club announced Wednesday.
Frazier rejoins the Royals after playing with the club during the 2024 season and then leaving in free agency.
Kansas City's front office felt the team needed another veteran bat off the bench, according to Anne Rogers of MLB.com, who adds Frazier was a big part of the clubhouse last year.
Frazier is slashing .255/.318/.336 with three homers, 21 RBIs, and seven stolen bases over 78 games in 2025. The 33-year-old's best season came in 2021: He hit .305 with a 113 wRC+ and 3.3 fWAR across a combined 155 contests for the Pirates and San Diego Padres en route to becoming an All-Star for the only time in his 10-year career.
Devanney, 28, has gone deep 18 times with 55 RBIs and a .931 OPS over 69 Triple-A games this year. He's never played in the majors.
