Phillies' Sánchez departs due to forearm soreness
Philadelphia Phillies left-hander Cristopher Sánchez exited Tuesday's game against the New York Mets after just two innings due to forearm soreness.
Sánchez's velocity was noticeably down during his start.
The 28-year-old said postgame he's confident the injury isn't serious but added that he's never experienced anything like this before, according to Todd Zolecki of MLB.com.
Phillies manager Rob Thomson said the team will know more about Sánchez's ailment in the coming days, per Lochlahn March of the Philadelphia Inquirer. The skipper also isn't expecting structural damage.
Sánchez owns a 3.42 ERA with 1.29 WHIP and 33 strikeouts over 26 1/3 innings (five starts) this season. He broke out last year en route to becoming an All-Star for the first time during his five-year career.
