Trayce Thompson's major-league return is going to have to wait.
The outfielder was optioned to Triple-A Worcester on Sunday, according to MassLive's Chris Cotillo.
Thompson, the brother of NBA star Klay Thompson, was vying for a roster spot with the Boston Red Sox after signing a minor-league deal with the organization in February. He hit six home runs, 13 RBIs, and posted a 1.280 OPS in 36 spring at-bats.
Boston's outfield appears to be set with Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu, and Ceddanne Rafaela, while its bench is expected to be comprised of catcher Carlos Narvaez, outfielder Rob Refsnyder, and utility players Romy Gonzalez and David Hamilton.
