The New York Mets have agreed to a one-year, $4.25-million deal with starting pitcher Griffin Canning, sources told The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal.

The deal includes $1 million in potential bonuses, Rosenthal reports.

Canning, 28, became a free agent after being non-tendered by the Atlanta Braves earlier this offseason. Atlanta acquired him from the Los Angeles Angels in a trade for outfielder Jorge Soler.

The right-hander pitched to a 5.19 ERA and 1.40 WHIP in 171 2/3 innings with the Angels in 2024. He allowed an MLB-high 99 earned runs.

Canning owns a 4.78 ERA (92 ERA+) over his five-year career.
