The Chicago Cubs, Boston Red Sox, Baltimore Orioles, and New York Mets are among the clubs to inquire about Seattle Mariners right-hander Luis Castillo, sources told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.

The Mariners will only trade Castillo if the move makes the team better, according to Rosenthal.

Trade interest in the three-time All-Star ramped up after the New York Yankees signed left-hander Max Fried to an eight-year, $218-million contract, a source told Rosenthal.

The Cubs are currently projected to start 2025 with a rotation of Shota Imanaga, Justin Steele, Jameson Taillon, Matthew Boyd, and Javier Assad. However, Chicago is still looking to upgrade the group and has spoken to the Miami Marlins about Jesús Luzardo, reports 670 The Score's Bruce Levine.

Meanwhile, the Red Sox already added All-Star Garrett Crochet but reportedly wanted to bring in two top starters this offseason, the Orioles need a new No. 1 with ace Corbin Burnes testing free agency, and the Mets could use another frontline arm to pair with Kodai Senga.

Castillo, 32, is still owed $73 million over three years with a $25-million vesting option for 2028. He recorded a 3.64 ERA with 1.17 WHIP and 175 strikeouts over 175 1/3 innings (30 starts) in 2024.
