MLB The Show postseason sim: Phillies take down O's in World Series
We're back! There's nothing better than postseason baseball. Before we get to the real thing, we'll see how the playoffs shake out virtually using MLB The Show 24. As always, this is a video game simulation, so there's no reason to get upset in the comments. And don't forget, we called the 2021 World Series-winning Atlanta Braves and 2023 champion Texas Rangers.
Wild-card series
Houston makes quick work of Detroit. Tigers ace Tarik Skubal allows five runs in the series-opening loss. Meanwhile, Jason Heyward drives in two runs in Game 2, helping the Astros advance.
Corbin Burnes and Zach Eflin shut down the Royals, combining to allow three earned runs over 15 1/3 innings. Colton Cowser, Gunnar Henderson, Jordan Westburg, Anthony Santander, and Cedric Mullins each homer over the two games.
Freddy Peralta dominates the Mets in Game 1, allowing one run while striking out eight in seven innings. Aaron Civale follows that up by surrendering one run over seven innings to help Milwaukee advance.
Jackson Merrill continues his incredible rookie season, driving in a team-high five runs over the three games, while Dylan Cease tosses seven shutout innings in Game 3 to push the Padres into the NLDS.
Division Series
Los Angeles is bounced in the NLDS for a third straight season, falling to its division rivals in San Diego in four games. Shohei Ohtani goes 3-for-15 with no home runs in his first taste of the postseason.
The Phillies show no signs of rust coming off a first-round bye, dispatching the Brewers in four games. Trea Turner and Bryce Harper combine to drive in 10 of Philadelphia's 17 runs.
The Orioles reach the ALCS for the first time since 2014 after knocking off the Yankees in five games. Jordan Westburg and Adley Rutschman combine to drive in nine runs in the series clincher at Yankee Stadium.
Houston dominates Cleveland, sweeping the Guardians in three games while outscoring them 24-5. It's an eighth straight season in which the Astros will play in the ALCS.
League Championship Series
The Orioles take down the Astros in what's easily the most entertaining series of our postseason. It's Baltimore's first trip to the World Series since 1983. It also marks back-to-back years in which Houston has lost in Game 7 of the ALCS. Rutschman's incredible postseason continues as he takes home ALCS MVP after hitting four home runs to go along with nine RBIs.
The Phillies flip the switch after dropping Game 1, rattling off four straight wins to advance to the World Series. Harper goes 12-for-23 with one home run and five RBIs to take home NLCS MVP.
The Phillies are once again World Series Champions. Philadelphia knocks off Baltimore in five games, winning the franchise's first title since 2008. Schwarber, Turner, and Harper each drive in two runs in Game 5 to secure the win. Schwarber takes home World Series MVP after hitting three home runs.
