Dodgers option 2023 NL ROY finalist Outman to minors
The Los Angeles Dodgers optioned outfielder James Outman to Triple-A, the club announced Friday.
The Dodgers also placed third baseman Max Muncy on the IL with a right oblique strain, reinstated outfielder Jason Heyward from the IL, and recalled infielder Miguel Vargas.
Outman was a finalist for NL Rookie of the Year in 2023 when he posted a .790 OPS with 23 home runs and 70 RBIs in 151 games. The 27-year-old was off to a tough start at the plate this season, slashing .147/.250/.266 with three home runs and 10 RBIs across 109 at-bats.
Muncy is hitting .223 with nine home runs and 28 RBIs through 40 games. The Dodgers are starting Enrique Hernández at third base Friday.

Heyward is in the lineup, batting eighth and playing right field for Friday's game against the Cincinnati Reds. The veteran made just four appearances before a back injury sidelined him in late March.
Vargas was off to a strong start at Triple-A. The 24-year-old registered a 1.019 OPS with eight home runs, 14 doubles, and 38 RBIs in 39 games.
