Newly acquired Kansas City Royals reliever Amir Garrett isn't going to back down from his rival Javier Baez now that the two play in the same division again.
"I'm going to remember battles that we've had, and if you show me up, I'm going to show you up. Just take it," Garrett said on the "Chris Rose Rotation" podcast.

Baez, who signed with the Detroit Tigers during the offseason, mocked Garrett after a walk-off hit in a game between the Chicago Cubs and Cincinnati Reds last July.

"The last battle we had, he won off a sacrifice pop up, and he did everything, but my thing is like, you know how you did the row the boat whatever? You don't understand, we swept them, and I did that to them," Garrett added. "It's like, yeah, he popped it up, you know, it's a sac fly, and he did it to me, and I had to eat that, and he went really extreme, which is OK.
"If I do something, he cannot be upset. He cannot be upset, you know what I mean? Everything goes around in full circle, you know, I'm OK with it."
The duo was also involved in a benches-clearing incident after Garrett taunted the Cubs' dugout in May. The league suspended the left-hander five games for his role in the fracas.
