The Chicago White Sox promoted left-handed pitcher Garrett Crochet to the major-league roster, the team announced Friday.
Crochet was selected 11th overall in the 2020 draft in June. He's the first player from this summer's draft to get the call to the bigs.

In a corresponding move, reliever Evan Marshall was placed on the 10-day injured list with shoulder inflammation, retroactive to Tuesday. Right-hander Ian Hamilton was designated for assignment.
Crochet is viewed as a starting pitcher in the long term but will come out of the bullpen during his initial stint with the White Sox, according to Scott Merkin of MLB.com.
The 21-year-old southpaw spent three years at Tennessee, though he only made one start in 2020 due to the coronavirus pandemic. He went 10-9 with a 4.64 ERA, 1.40 WHIP, and 149 strikeouts in 132 innings during his college career.
Crochet features a fastball that touches 101 mph and also throws an above-average changeup, and a solid slider, according to MLB Pipeline's scouting report.
