Antonelli becomes youngest Monaco GP winner in F1 history

Kimi Antonelli's win streak is now at five after winning the Monaco Grand Prix on Sunday from pole position.

The 19-year-old is the youngest Monaco GP winner in F1 history and captured the slam during the weekend by leading every lap and posting the fastest lap time.

Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton placed second while Red Bull's Isack Hadjar rounded out the podium in third. Hamilton notched his eighth career podium at Monaco, tying the late Ayrton Senna.

Alpine's Pierre Gasly crossed the line third but had to serve 10 seconds of penalties, dropping him to seventh. The French driver posted that he was "heartbroken" following the race.

Hadjar was investigated for a red-flag infringement but was cleared following the race as the 21-year-old picked up his second career podium.

Charles Leclerc, in his hometown race, seemed poised to finish on the podium but crashed into the barriers with 14 laps remaining. The safety car had just come in after Lance Stroll had crashed into the same wall.

Following the nearly identical crashes, the race was red flagged at Lap 68 for an issue with the pavement at that corner.

Antonelli's Mercedes teammate George Russell was assessed a 5-second penalty for speeding in the pit lane and then was given another 10-second sanction for failing to serve the first penalty during his next pitstop. On restart after the red flag, he briefly took control of third place but pitted and served his penalties to avoid further punishment. He wound up finishing 13th.

Four-time F1 champion Max Verstappen, who started on the front row alongside Antonelli, was forced to retire on the opening lap with a power unit issue.

Reigning champ Lando Norris also failed to complete the race due to a battery issue. It's the second straight DNF for Norris after he was knocked out of the Canadian Grand Prix two weekends ago.

Haas' Oliver Bearman and Cadillac's Valtteri Bottas also retired due to technical issues.
