McLaren inks Piastri to multi-year extension
McLaren locked up star Formula 1 driver Oscar Piastri to a multi-year contract extension, the team announced Tuesday.
Details of the pact weren't revealed, aside from McLaren saying the partnership will continue "for the long term."
Piastri's previous deal with the British F1 team was scheduled to expire in 2026.
"It's a great feeling knowing that I'm part of McLaren's long-term vision," Piastri said in a statement. "The team had the belief in me when we signed in 2022, and the journey we've gone on over the past two seasons to help return McLaren to the very top of the sport has been incredible.
"There are so many talented and special people working at the MTC who have helped me to become a Formula 1 race winner very early in my career. Therefore, I'm very proud to be continuing to represent this legendary team for many years to come."
Piastri first joined McLaren to replace Daniel Ricciardo in 2023. The 23-year-old won in Hungary and Azerbaijan last season en route to a fourth-place finish in the drivers' championship. He also helped McLaren secure the constructors' title.
