Houston Rockets guard Eric Gordon has withdrawn from Team USA's training camp next month and won't participate at the FIBA World Cup later this summer, sources told The Athletic's Shams Charania.
Fellow Rocket James Harden also removed his name from consideration, along with Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis.
Gordon played for the U.S. national team during its gold-medal run at the 2010 world championships. He averaged 8.6 points and finished second on the team in triples made (19) and 3-point percentage (45.2 percent).
The 30-year-old was initially named to Team USA's 20-player pool in June. Of the 17 remaining players from that list, only four have Olympic or world championship experience with the senior team.
Despite the losses of Harden and Gordon, the American roster remains deep at guard, with Damian Lillard, Kyle Lowry, Bradley Beal, Kemba Walker, and Donovan Mitchell still in the fold.
Gordon was the NBA's Sixth Man of the Year in 2017. He averaged 16.2 points on 40.9 percent shooting across 68 appearances last season.
