Federer reclaims RF logo from Nike

Roger Federer has his logo back.

The Swiss tennis star reclaimed ownership of his RF logo from Nike, according to updates on the United States Patent and Trademark Office website. He has not worn the logo on his clothing since leaving Nike to sign a $300-million deal with Uniqlo in the summer of 2018.

The delay in Federer getting back the logo was to allow for the sale of the remainder of his Nike apparel, according to Kamakshi Tandon of Tennis.com.

"The RF logo is with Nike at the moment, but it will come to me at some point," Federer told The Associated Press in 2018. "I hope rather sooner than later, that Nike can be nice and helpful in the process to bring it over to me. They are my initials. They are mine. The good thing is it's not theirs forever. In a short period of time, it will come to me."

Federer underwent knee surgery in February and will miss several upcoming tournaments, including the French Open.
