Bianca Andreescu will compete for a title on home soil.
The burgeoning teenager advanced to the final of the Rogers Cup in Toronto by beating American Sofia Kenin 6-4, 7-6 (5) on Saturday. She'll meet Serena Williams on Sunday.
Andreescu is the first Canadian woman to reach the final of the tournament since 1969 when Faye Urban defeated compatriot Vicki Berner.
After playing in four consecutive three-set matches to reach the semis, Andreescu was able to put Kenin away before going the distance, sealing the win on her fifth match point.
The 19-year-old is playing in her first tournament since the French Open in May, as she dealt with a troublesome shoulder injury.
"Life is freaking amazing," an emotional Andreescu said after the win.
She'll be looking for her second WTA title on Sunday; she captured the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells back in March.
