Clark wins Rookie of the Year, named to All-Rookie team

Indiana Fever sensation Caitlin Clark has been named the 2024 WNBA Rookie of the Year, the league announced Thursday.

Clark received 66 out of 67 votes for the award, with one person voting for Angel Reese of the Chicago Sky, according to Rachel Galligan of Winsidr.

"I am incredibly honored to be named Rookie of the Year, but more than that, I am grateful to everyone that supported me throughout this past season – my family and friends, my teammates, the Fever organization and everyone that cheered us on all season," Clark said in a statement.

"I am so proud of what we accomplished and so excited for what the future holds."

Clark and Reese were named to the WNBA's All-Rookie team, along with the latter's Sky teammate Kamilla Cardoso, Los Angeles Sparks forward Rickea Jackson, and New York Liberty guard Leonie Fiebich.

The former Iowa star led all first-years with 19.2 points per game. She also averaged a rookie-record 8.4 assists while shooting 41.7% from the floor and 34.4% from three.

The 22-year-old shattered several league records in her first professional campaign: She became the first rookie to record multiple triple-doubles and set a new single-season mark by any player with 337 total assists, helped in part by the single-game record 19 she posted in a July 17 loss to the Dallas Wings.

Clark's contributions in her debut campaign also helped reverse the Fever's fortunes, transforming them into a .500 team. They earned the sixth seed in the playoffs after finishing the 2023 campaign with a 13-27 record, putting them second-last in the league standings.
