Milan's Paolo Maldini, son Daniel confirm positive coronavirus tests
AC Milan legend and current technical director Paolo Maldini and his son Daniel have both tested positive for the coronavirus.
The Serie A side confirmed the news Saturday, adding that "Paolo and Daniel are both well and have already completed two weeks at home without contact with others."
"They will now remain in quarantine until clinically recovered, as per the medical protocols outlined by the health authorities," the statement adds.
Daniel, 18, made his first-team debut with the Rossoneri in a home draw against Hellas Verona on Feb. 2, 2020. The attacking midfielder became the third-generation Maldini to play for the team, joining Paolo and grandfather Cesare, who died in 2016.
Paolo, 51, spent his entire professional career at Milan, and he holds the club record for appearances in all competitions (902).
On March 9, the Italian government ruled that all sporting events in the nation are suspended until April 3.
Italy has been the hardest hit European country, with nearly 54,000 confirmed cases and 4,825 deaths.
