Pittsburgh Penguins captain Sidney Crosby moved into seventh on the NHL's all-time assists list (1,110) with a helper on Bryan Rust's first-period goal against the Colorado Avalanche on Friday.

Crosby passed Hall of Famer Joe Thornton with the dish, and he's likely to keep climbing the ranks if he remains healthy this season.

Rank Player Assists
1 Wayne Gretzky 1963
2 Ron Francis 1249
3 Mark Messier 1193
4 Ray Bourque 1169
5 Jaromir Jagr 1155
6 Paul Coffey 1135
7 Sidney Crosby 1110

Crosby also ranks seventh all-time in points (1,766) and is only 32 points shy of entering the top five. The 39-year-old has now recorded two goals and three assists this season.

Crosby holds an NHL-record 21 consecutive campaigns with at least a point per game. He tallied 74 points in 68 games last season; he missed a chunk of time due to an injury sustained at the Olympics.

The three-time Stanley Cup champion is on an expiring contract, but he has said multiple times that he wants to continue playing beyond this season.
