Winnipeg Jets captain Adam Lowry insists Connor Hellebuyck's bombshell trade request won't disrupt the club's locker room with training camp around the corner.
"Nothing's set in stone," Lowry said, per Sportsnet. "Obviously, the situation is what it is. You spend so much time speculating on it you're going to drive yourself crazy. Obviously, it's going to resolve itself one way or the other."
Lowry added, "Helly's a good friend of ours. It's not something that we think is going to really impact the room. It's not going to create a big divide. It's a personal decision he's made and thinks is best for his family."
Hellebuyck requested a trade out of Winnipeg several months ago but waited until late August to publicly announce it. Jets general manager Kevin Cheveldayoff later said the club would "continue to work through the situation in a thoughtful manner."
The Jets don't have a trade offer they believe to be fair, according to The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun. The Carolina Hurricanes, Buffalo Sabres, and Utah Mammoth are among the teams to reportedly express interest in the star netminder.
It's unclear if Hellebuyck will report to Jets camp, which opens Sept. 17. He's under contract through 2031 at a cap hit of $8.5 million and has a full no-movement clause.
Hellebuyck has spent his entire 11-year NHL career with the Jets. He's a four-time All-Star and a three-time Vezina Trophy winner, and he claimed the Hart Trophy as the league MVP in 2025. The Jets won the Presidents' Trophy that year, but heavily regressed last season and missed the playoffs.
Hellebuyck posted an .895 save percentage in 57 appearances last season, the lowest mark of his career. However, he dominated for the United States at the Olympics to help his country claim a gold medal.
