Brayden McNabb was sent to hospital just two days ago after taking a slap shot to the face in the Vegas Golden Knights' Game 2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes.

While that would end most athletes' chance of playing in their next game, McNabb provided the latest example that normal logic doesn't apply to playoff hockey.

McNabb didn't just play Saturday, he logged over 35 minutes of action - the second-most of any player on the ice - during the Golden Knights' incredible double-overtime victory. He also posted two assists on the night, including one on Shea Theodore's game-winning goal.

"It was a little rough, but I was able to make it happen," McNabb told Fox Sports Las Vegas. "When I was in the hospital there was some doubt for sure. But, waking up, I felt OK, and then I knew I would have a chance (to play)."

According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, McNabb received between 20-30 stitches in his face for his injury. He wore a full cage for the contest and received the loudest ovation of any player during introductions prior to the game.

Golden Knights coach John Tortorella put McNabb's performance into perspective after the contest, touching on his 24-year career to try and find a comparison.

“I haven’t seen something like this," Tortorella told Madyson Marie of 8 News Now. "Blown away by how he’s gone about his business.”

McNabb now has two days to rest before Game 4 in Vegas with the series resuming Tuesday night.
