Report: Maple Leafs seeking 1st-round pick for McMann
The Toronto Maple Leafs are looking to acquire a first-round pick for pending unrestricted free agent Bobby McMann, reports Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.
McMann has notched 19 goals and 13 assists in 56 games this season while counting for $1.35 million against the cap. He's arguably Toronto's best trade chip leading up to the March 6 deadline with the team on course to miss the playoffs for the first time since 2015-16.
Scott Laughton, Calle Jarnkrok, and Troy Stecher could also be on the move as pending UFAs.
The Maple Leafs don't have a first-round pick until 2028. They traded their 2026 and 2027 selections to the Boston Bruins and Philadelphia Flyers last year to acquire Brandon Carlo and Laughton in separate deals.
The 2026 pick, traded to Boston, is top-five protected. If the Maple Leafs end up in the top five after the draft lottery, the Bruins would receive an unprotected first-rounder in 2028.
Toronto entered the Olympic break six points back of the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
