Predators' Josi diagnosed with POTS
Nashville Predators captain Roman Josi was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, the team announced Wednesday.
Josi has been dealing with POTS since the end of the 2024-25 regular season. The defender will be able to continue playing and is expected to participate in the Predators' training camp in the fall.
POTS can increase heart rate and cause dizziness and fatigue when transitioning from lying down to standing up, according to the Cleveland Clinic. It can develop after physical trauma, including head injuries. There's no known cure.
Josi sustained a concussion on a hit from Florida Panthers forward Sam Bennett in February that ended his season.
The 35-year-old tallied nine goals and 29 assists in 53 games in 2024-25. He's spent his entire NHL career with the Predators and was named captain in 2017. He won the Norris Memorial Trophy in 2020 as the league's top defenseman.
