Sidney Crosby surpassed The Great One on Tuesday night, notching his 1,670th career point to take sole possession of fourth on the all-time list for production with one team.

The Pittsburgh Penguins captain accomplished the feat when he scored with 15 seconds left in the first period against the New York Islanders.

Crosby passed Wayne Gretzky in his 1,340th game. He's in his 20th campaign, having spent his entire career with the Penguins. Gretzky needed only 696 games over nine seasons to amass his total before the Edmonton Oilers traded him to the Los Angeles Kings in the summer of 1988.

Here are the NHL leaders in points with a single franchise:

Rank Player Total Team
1 Gordie Howe 1809 Detroit Red Wings
2 Steve Yzerman 1755 Red Wings
3 Mario Lemieux 1723 Pittsburgh Penguins
4 Sidney Crosby 1670 Penguins
5 Wayne Gretzky 1669 Edmonton Oilers

Gordie Howe, the leader in the category, suited up for 1,687 contests over 25 seasons with the Detroit Red Wings, while Steve Yzerman played 1,514 over 22 campaigns with Detroit. Mario Lemieux logged 915 games over 17 seasons with Pittsburgh.

Crosby's tally was his 24th goal and 74th point of the season. He leads the Penguins by a wide margin in the latter category.
