Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Zach Werenski won't play Tuesday against the Buffalo Sabres due to an undisclosed injury, head coach Dean Evason announced, according to team reporter Jeff Svoboda.

The blue-liner is considered day-to-day, per The Athletic's Aaron Portzline.

Werenski departed Sunday's game against the Dallas Stars late in the second period after getting his arm twisted, but he was able to return for the third stanza.

His absence means the Blue Jackets will be without their top-three leading scorers Tuesday. In addition to Werenski, Kirill Marchenko and Sean Monahan remain sidelined.

Werenski has registered a club-leading 57 points in 53 games this season, a mark that ranks third among NHL defensemen.

The 27-year-old was named to the USA's 4 Nations Face-Off roster in December.
