The Dallas Stars are among the teams interested in New York Islanders center Brock Nelson, reports The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun.

Dallas' Central Division rivals the Minnesota Wild also reportedly have their eye on Nelson, who projects to be one of the top players available ahead of the 2025 trade deadline.

Nelson is a pending unrestricted free agent and the Islanders find themselves 15th in the Eastern Conference entering Wednesday's games.

The 33-year-old figures to be in high demand given the abundance of center-needy teams. The 6-foot-4 Nelson has recorded 12 goals and 13 assists in 42 games this season. He notched at least 34 goals in each of the past three campaigns and has hit the 20-goal mark eight times in his 12 NHL seasons.

Nelson also boasts an impressive playoff resume with 27 goals in 78 career postseason contests.

His contract carries a 16-team no-trade list and a $6-million cap hit, a figure the Stars could easily absorb by placing Tyler Seguin - out three-to-five more months after December hip surgery - on long-term injured reserve.

The Stars are reportedly eager to spend with Seguin out. Nelson would complement the team's bevy of options down the middle that includes Roope Hintz, Matt Duchene, and Wyatt Johnston.
