Ovechkin exits vs. Utah after knee-on-knee collision
Washington Capitals superstar Alex Ovechkin exited Monday's 6-2 win early and didn't return after a knee-on-knee collision with Utah Hockey Club's Jack McBain.
Ovechkin left the contest with just over 14 minutes remaining in the third period.
Ovechkin briefly took the ice during a game break before going to the locker room. He scored two goals in the contest.
Head coach Spencer Carbery said the 39-year-old is still being evaluated and that Washington would know more about his status tomorrow, according to Monumental Sports Network's Tarik El-Bashir.
Ovechkin leads the NHL with 15 goals on the campaign and is 27 tallies from passing Wayne Gretzky for the all-time mark.
Capitals forward Tom Wilson fought McBain later in the third period.
Washington next plays Thursday against the Colorado Avalanche.
