Canucks to return Gagner to AHL

The Vancouver Canucks will loan veteran forward Sam Gagner to the Toronto Marlies for the second time this season, the team announced Tuesday.
Gagner was sent down to the Marlies on Oct. 2 and then recalled by the Canucks on Nov. 18.
The 29-year-old center carries a cap hit of $3.15 million and has two years remaining on his contract, including the 2018-19 campaign.
He piled up 15 points in as many games with the Marlies before being summoned by the Canucks, with whom he managed three points in seven contests.
The Canucks needed to make a move with forward Jay Beagle expected to return from injury and the recently acquired Josh Leivo making his Vancouver debut against the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday night.
