Jerry Jones wants to become the winningest owner in league history before stepping away from football.

"My goal in life is to retire as the owner that won the most Super Bowls," The Dallas Cowboys owner told reporters Wednesday, including ESPN's Todd Archer. "That's my goal: to be retired in the NFL as the owner that won the most Super Bowls."

Dallas has won three Super Bowl titles since Jones bought the team in 1989. Over the past three decades, however, the Cowboys haven't enjoyed the same success as they did early in Jones' tenure. They're the only NFC club to not reach the conference title game since 1995.

Robert Kraft has won six league titles as owner of the New England Patriots. The 83-year-old Jones admits that he's "got work to do" to catch up to Kraft but credited himself with being on "the second rung in the ladder."

"I know whether it's his gold jacket, all the things he's accomplished from the value of this franchise, I think he'd give a lot of that up for one more Super Bowl," Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said.

The Cowboys finished second in the NFC East this season with a 7-9-1 record under first-year head coach Brian Schottenheimer. The team fired defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus on Tuesday after surrendering a franchise-high 511 points in 2025. Dallas is looking for its fourth defensive play-caller in as many seasons.

Offensive standouts George Pickens and Javonte Williams are set to become unrestricted free agents this spring. Dallas could opt to use the franchise tag on either player to retain their rights for another year. The Cowboys own two first-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft after trading Micah Parsons to the Green Bay Packers.

"Bottom line is, this (offseason) is, yes, very important," the elder Jones said.
